Google has taken the wraps off of Google Earth, a standalone application that combines its Keyhole 3D satellite imagery with the best features of Google Local and Maps.
As Google puts it:”The idea is simple. It’s a globe that sits inside your PC. You point and zoom to any place on the planet that you want to explore. Satellite images and local facts zoom into view. Tap into Google search to show local points of interest and facts. Zoom to a specific address to check out an apartment or hotel. View driving directions and even fly along your route.
I’ve been playing with it for a bit. Not much of The Netherlands is yet available in high-resolution, but enough to have fun with.
One of the nice things is that you can mark specific locations for future reference. I’m currently indexing places of interest, mainly in The Netherlands.
Suggestions for locations are welcome!
